Georgia families have access to two distinct scholarship programs that can be used to pay for expert tutoring services. Whether your child has a disability or simply attends an underperforming school, there may be state funds available to cover the cost of certified one-on-one literacy support.
Education Interventions is an approved vendor for Georgia's scholarship programs. Here's what you need to know about each one.
Georgia's Two Scholarship Programs
Georgia Special Needs Scholarship (GSNS)
Georgia's original school choice program for students with disabilities. Eligible students must have an active IEP, have attended a Georgia public school the prior year, and have a parent who has been a Georgia resident for at least one year. Scholarship funds offset tuition costs at participating private schools โ and remaining funds can be used for tutoring and other approved services. Students can also use the scholarship to transfer to another public school. Scholarship amounts vary based on age and disability services received.
Georgia Promise Scholarship
Launched for the 2025โ26 school year, the Georgia Promise Scholarship is Georgia's first true education savings account program. It provides up to $6,500 per student per year for students who are zoned to attend one of the lowest-performing 25% of Georgia public schools. Tutoring by an educator certified by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission is explicitly listed as an approved expense. Funds are distributed quarterly and applications open each quarter at mygeorgiapromise.org.
Who Qualifies?
Georgia Special Needs Scholarship
Your child must have an active IEP, have been enrolled and completed the prior school year at a Georgia public school (grades Kโ12), and have a parent who is a Georgia resident for at least one year. The IEP must document receipt of special education services. Military families and students adopted from foster care may qualify under different criteria.
Georgia Promise Scholarship
Your child must be zoned to attend one of Georgia's lowest-performing 25% of public schools (check the map at Georgia Center for Opportunity), have been enrolled at such a school for at least one year (or be entering kindergarten), and have parents who have been Georgia residents for at least one year. Priority is given to families earning below 400% of the federal poverty level (~$120,000 for a family of four), but higher-income families may still qualify.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use Georgia Promise Scholarship funds if my child is currently homeschooled?
No โ students must have been enrolled at a qualifying low-performing public school for at least two consecutive semesters (or be entering kindergarten). Students who leave public school to participate must remain unenrolled in public school while receiving funds.
Does the Georgia Promise Scholarship expire?
The program has a 10-year expiration date, sunsetting on June 30, 2035. Students who receive an initial scholarship receive priority in future years.
What if my child has a disability and is zoned to an underperforming school?
Your child may qualify for both programs, but can only receive funding from one at a time. We recommend comparing the award amounts and approved expenses for each program to determine which is the better fit.
